British GT championship racer Anna Walewska will face this weekend’s season opener full of confidence after a successful test with her new team on Monday.
The University of Bolton National Centre for Motorsport Engineering ambassador joined Team Hard in March for her fourth straight season in Britain’s premier GT series.
This year she will partner, 17-year-old Callum Hawkins-Row, a recognised rising start in British GT ranks. This season the pair will share a Ginetta G55 GT4 run by the Kent-based squad on the seven-round national series.
Monday’s test session on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit was the second time the Hindhead-based driver got behind the wheel of her 2018 challenger, her first only two weeks ago at the championship’s media day launch at Donington Park.
She successfully completed numerous laps over the newly resurfaced track and is now well-prepared for Easter Monday’s season opener at Oulton Park. Her team-mate ran further laps where they also practised pit stop driver changer-over.
She said: “We had a very productive test day making good progress with car set up. The team did a great job and I’m looking forward to my first race with Callum”.
The National Centre for Motorsport Engineering students will continue their hands-on learning experiences at Oulton this weekend where they will shadow some of Team Hard’s most-experienced mechanics and race engineers.
